The Mitchell Thorp Foundation supports families whose children suffer from life-threatening illnesses, diseases and disorders, by providing financial, emotional and resource support to their desperate situation.
The foundation was inspired by Mitchell Thorp, the son of Brad and Beth Thorp, who fought a 5 year courageous battle with an undiagnosed illness that took their family across the United States looking for answers. Mitchell could no longer walk or talk; and he had difficulty seeing. The pain in his head was so severe, that no medicine helped and he went through myoclonic seizures due to the constant pain. None of the many hospitals or doctors could heal him, or even find what caused his excruciating pain. Mitchell’s life-threatening symptoms began at age 13 and he passed away at age 18.

Since founding MTF in 2009, the Thorps discovered that 78% of families, whose child is diagnosed with a critical illness, experience divorce or separation; and the stress will test these families beyond their endurance, often bankrupting them financially, emotionally and physically.
However, when communities of willing and giving hearts come together, miracles DO happen. MTF families do not want pity; they just need a helping hand in a time of crisis. MTF encourages their families, by letting them know they are not alone, and by giving them hope that there are good people, who really care.

The Warrior Spirit 5K Run/Walk Family Festival is the foundations biggest annual fundraiser.
The focus of the Mitchell Thorp Foundation is to provide individualized aid to meet the needs of the child and family through their Medical and Home Assistance Programs, Healing and Wellness Programs and Van Conversion Program

The MTF hosts the Pillars of Hope Tennis Smash to raise much needed funds.
Some of the additional community programs provided by MTF include the Youth Leadership Council and the annual Adopt-a-Family Christmas gift giving event.

Adopt-a-Family Christmas gift giving is a cherished MTF tradition.
The Thorp’s truly understand what community is all about after receiving the incredible emotional and financial support, as well as the outpouring of love that took place on their behalf. It was a natural progression, inspired by Mitchell and directed by GOD that led them to form the Foundation in Mitchell’s memory to help others.
